Jim Risch has been a politician since 1970. At 83, he’s out of touch with the state he represents, and it’s time for a change. With a small electorate and an inexpensive media market, Idaho Senate race is the biggest value to make a change the country
1. The field is clear: the Democratic nominee withdrew, leaving a straight head-to-head between independent Todd Achilles and Risch, the same setup Dan Osborn used to make Nebraska competitive.
2. This seat could decide the Senate: if two of the four independents running in red states win, the Senate splits 48-48, with four independents holding the balance.
3. Todd Achilles is a credible candidate: he’s a farm-raised Army veteran, businessman, and former state legislator, and his campaign has raised $2 million, a serious number for an Idaho challenger. Polling shows that support for Achilles grows the more voters learn about him.
