Retired General Running for Congress in NY-19
Tony German spent 36 years in the United States Military, first in active duty, and then in the New York National Guard. He rose up to become a two-star General with assignments that sent him to the Pentagon, Antarctica, and throughout the world, including over 60 countries and all7 continents. He is a graduate of SUNY Oneonta and the Naval War College.
In 2016, General German was appointed Adjutant General of the New York National Guard, where he led 20,000 airman, soldiers, sailors, and civilian staff. He commanded the response to some of the state’s worst national disasters following Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Lee and Hurricane Sandy. From the skies over New York City to the northern border, Tony Germ an w as tasked with helping to secure New York State in a post-911 threat landscape. He has dedicated his adult life to serving New York State.
Tony German has called New York’s 19th congressional district home for his entire life. Tony and his wife, Diana have raised 4 children in the district, 3 of whom serve in uniform.
Like a lot of veterans, Tony wants to continue to serve. He believes our political system is broken and dysfunctional, and feels called to do his part to repair it and provide the 19th district with a better voice in Congress.
Tony is a lifelong Republican, and is seeking his party’s nomination for the 19th Congressional District.
