Strongsville Schools had a $9 million surplus last year and have $71 million in the bank
We oppose Issue 14, the $9.8 million renewal levy on the ballot in November, because we feel that our schools have efficiently managed the money we have sent them as tax payers and simply do not need this much money to continue to achieve excellent education for our community’s children.
According to the school board's reports (and verified by the school Treasurer), our schools had a $9 million surplus this past year and have over $71 million in the bank. With such a surplus and existing cash reserve, we do not believe that this amount of additional funds are necessary.
We are asking Strongsville voters to vote NO on Issue 14 on November 7th. Then, ask the School Board to place a levy half the size on the ballot in March that doesn’t continue to create excessive surpluses every year.
This would save the average home owner $275 a year in taxes!
