Matt is co-founder of the nonpartisan Save Austin Now PAC, the largest grassroots organization in Austin. This year, Save Austin Now gathered 21,000+ signatures from Austinites through a petition drive to put a charter amendment on the ballot requiring regular, outside, performance audits of the entire City of Austin budget for the first time ever.

This effort is modeled after Houston’s outside audit requirement, which cost $500,000 and produced more than $100 million in suggested annual efficiencies by reducing waste, fraud, duplication and inefficient city spending. Our local taxes are among the highest in Texas and our city budget is 30-40% larger per capita than Dallas and Houston.

We'll have light refreshments and an informal conversation about the campaign and what you can do to support this cause over the next few weeks!
