Join us for the Larimer County Exhibition of the Colorado Union of Ballot Counters — the third event in a statewide circuit demonstrating transparent, precinct-level hand counting of paper ballots under Colorado law (C.R.S. § 1-7-307).

What to expect:

  • 4–5 simultaneous counting tables using the four-judge team method (audible reading, dual independent tally sheets, and full discrepancy resolution before any batch is sealed)

  • Friendly competition among volunteer teams of four.

  • Republican State House and State Senate candidates and others speaking and taking Q&A throughout the evening while counting continues

  • Public observation of every step of a real hand-count process

  • Results announced on-site

Hosted by the Phoebe McWilliams, Judy Papenfuss and James Wiley for Colorado Secretary of State campaign and open to all Republican candidates and activists.

Schedule

  • 6:00 PM – Candidate Meet & Greet

  • 6:30 PM – Candidate Speeches Begin

  • 7:30 PM – Ballot Counters Training

  • 7:45 PM – Counting Starts

  • 8:45 PM – Results announced, closing remarks & announcement of future circuit dates

Potluck – BBQ chicken sandwiches, brownies, and drinks are provided. Please bring a side dish to share.

No experience needed to join a counting team — just a firm commitment to show up and follow the process. Teams of five are encouraged to sign up together.

This is not a real election but a hand count election simulation to exhibit how a hand count could take place under Colorado law, to educate current and future lawmakers and election workers, and promote candidates who support hand count elections.
