Keep Kierland Green - Stop Westin Kierland Golf Course Rezoning

The proposed rezoning of 71.8 acres of the Westin Kierland Mesquite Golf Course could permanently replace green space corridors with 494 residential buildings up to 56 ft, adding nearly 3,000 car trips a day to our streets. Help the Kierland Community Alliance stop this from happening.

Kierland's open space is one of the things that makes our neighborhood special, and right now it's at risk.

What's being proposed

If approved, the Westin Kierland’s Copper Residences rezoning (Case Z-169-25-2) would replace approximately 71.8 acres of the Mesquite Golf Course with 494 new residential units, north and south of Greenway Parkway between 66th and 69th Streets. Here's what that means for the Kierland community and beyond:

  • Permanent loss of open space. Golf course views and green buffers would be replaced by dense development. Once the open space is gone, it is gone forever.

  • Buildings up to 54 feet (4 stories), not counting rooftop balconies - far taller and denser than the surrounding neighborhoods.

  • Approximately 2,914 new car trips every day, according to the developer's own traffic study, on streets where KCA's independent study already found heavy speeding, cut-through traffic, and stop-sign compliance as low as 26%.

  • Strain on sewer, roads, and public services, plus years of construction disruption.

  • Impacts on quality of life and home values from added noise, congestion, and lost views.

  • Loss of wildlife habitat

  • Precedent setting. This could set a precedent for other cherished green spaces throughout our District and the City of Phoenix.

Your donation at work

The Kierland Community Alliance (KCA) is organizing neighbors to oppose this rezoning at every step of the City's approval process. Your gift may be used for:

  • Opposition for the rezoning case, including traffic studies and expert review

  • Neighborhood outreach: mailers, door hangers, yard signs, and events

  • Communications, social media, and kierlandvoices.com

  • KCA's own Kierland-area outreach supporting Danny Mazza for Phoenix City Council District 2, who stands with Kierland in opposing the redevelopment. KCA pays for its own outreach; donations are never given directly to any candidate's campaign.

Every gift, large or small, helps keep Kierland green. 💚
