Months ago, I shared the distressing news that despite Maine people speaking up in strong opposition, Augusta Democrats successfully pushed through LD 227, which now grants the state unprecedented power over parental rights concerning transgender treatments and abortion. While this is a significant setback, it SHOULD also sharpen our resolve and clarify our mission moving forward.

During the floor debates, a Democrat representative reminded us that Maine citizens make their voices heard every two years at the ballot box. The reality is that Maine has repeatedly elected Democrats, allowing them to accumulate power and pass laws like LD 227. The status quo has persisted for nearly 50 years, but that doesn’t mean it has to continue.

Here’s a key fact: In 2022, the Democrats only secured their majority by a razor-thin margin of 1,417 votes across just ten House districts. With 1.3 million citizens in our state, that’s how close we came to a different outcome!

As we approach November, it is imperative that we elect legislators who will stand firm for LIFE, and will also protect parental rights! Let’s stop reacting to what the majority is doing and start proactively working to ensure they can’t pass laws like LD 227 in the future. Together, we can shift the direction of our state and protect that which matters most.
