I want to make Sacramento County a safer, fairer, and more just community for everyone. I began my legal career as a prosecutor with the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office 16 years ago. I worked to protect victims of domestic violence, assault, and serious and violent crimes. I also worked to reduce drug, theft, and vandalism crimes in both the courtroom and the community. I was an outlier, mentoring women on parole and leading a program that helped at-risk high school students in South Sacramento pursue legal careers because I understand that transforming lives is just as important as protecting them.
In 2013, I was appointed Public Adviser to the California Energy Commission by Governor Jerry Brown. In this role, I led efforts to implement equity initiatives in statewide energy policies and programs. I worked to address barriers to clean energy and improve access to resources for the most marginalized communities across the state. In 2019, I expanded this work as the Chief Consultant for the Joint Legislative Committee on Climate Change connecting policy with practice to effect meaningful change.
As a former prosecutor, executive leader and public policy expert, my public service career focused on protecting the vulnerable and holding violators accountable. I will continue this work as the next District Attorney to address barriers to safety and improve access to resources that reduce crime.
My vision is guided by science, research, and a commitment to the dignity and safety of every individual in our community. Together we can make Sacramento County a more safe, fair, and just community for everyone.
